For each type of report to be distributed via Banner ePrint, you must create a report definition file. This file describes the report's print image file in detail, so that the system knows where to find the specific information it needs for formatting, security access and sorting. The ePrint wizard will prompt you for all the necessary information. Access the wizard by selecting Define from the Report Tasks section of the main menu.

When you implement ePrint, sample configuration files are provided for some reports. If any reports are subsequently added or changed, you must edit the report definition file. Use the guidelines below.

To create a new report definition file:

Type a unique, alphanumeric identifier, maximum length 30 characters, into the field at the bottom of the Create New File dialog box.

To create a new definition file without a template:

You may wish to create a new report definition that is not based on a template. If so, select the From Scratch option.

To use another report definition as a template:

As a data entry shortcut, you can copy a selected report definition and then change the fields as required. Select the Copy selected as template option. From the list box, first select the repository from which the report definition will come. Next, select the report whose definition you wish to copy.

Copy multiple reports as templates:

As a data entry shortcut, you can copy selected report definitions to another repository. Select the Copy multiple reports as template option. Select the repository from which you want to copy the definitions. Next, from the list box, select the report definitions you wish to copy.

CreateThen select Create. The system will display the Basic Report Information section of the wizard. See below for information on maintaining the report definition information.

To delete a report definition file:

DeleteFrom the list box in Edit Existing File at the top of the dialog box, select the report definition you wish to delete. Then select Delete. A confirmation message will be shown, to verify your intentions. Select OK to delete the report definition file.

To maintain report definition information:

After you select a report definition for creating or editing, the system will present the first section of the wizard (Basic Report Information). To exit the wizard:

At any point (from any page), you may select Finished to save your changes or Cancel to discard (ignore) your updates. You will be taken to the Report Definition File Wizard page, where you can either exit the wizard or re-open it to make additional changes.
