NOTE: This help page describes a specific section of the Security Definition File Wizard. If you need more background information on this wizard, see the "Using the Security Definition File Wizard" topic.

This function is not applicable to Banner defined repositories.

This section of the Security Definition File Wizard provides basic information to Banner ePrint about how security is defined on your report-generating application system, and how it will be updated in ePrint. It is the first page that appears when you select Security from the User Tasks section of the main menu. The fields are described below.

Repository: This field is hard-coded and cannot be updated by the user. There is only one security definition file for each repository. (To update the security definition file for another repository, you must log out of the administrative module and log in under that repository.)
Update: This field indicates how the security is updated. Select BATCH if the security will only be updated by batch files sent from your report-generating application via ftp. The batch file will overlay all data. Select ONLINE if user security is only to be updated online. (This option disables the batch process.) Select BOTH if security will be updated both by batch process and online via the administrative interface.Select NO_OVERLAY to load new users to ePrint without changes to existing users.
Authorization Type: This field indicates how users are authorized to see reports in this repository. If at least one report is secured by value-based security (users are restricted to certain elements within the report), select VBS; then define the VBS elements in the Value Based Security section of the wizard. Select ID if security access will be based only on authentication information (user ID).
