NOTE: This help page describes a specific section of the Security Definition File Wizard. If you need more background information on this wizard, see the "Using the Security Definition File Wizard" topic.
This function is not applicable to Banner defined repositories.
This section of the Security Definition File Wizard prompts you for information about your report-generating application's authentication file. There is one authentication file per application system, and it includes the system's users IDs, passwords and other attributes. This information is required so that Banner ePrint's security loader can copy the application user ID/password information into ePrint's authentication database.
Fixed Versus Delimited Format: If the format of your report-generating application authentication file is fixed (the location of the attributes is in a fixed location on each page), then you must specify the location (column and length) for each attribute to be loaded. If the format of the file is delimited, first you must specify the delimiter; then you must indicate the order on the page of the attributes to be loaded. If a particular attribute is not to be loaded (for example, Email or Employee ID), use zero (0) for the order or column/length, as applicable.
Authentication File
Filename: |
Key in the name of the file, as downloaded to the ePrint server. |
File Format: |
From drop-down list, select FIXED if the attributes are in a fixed location on each page or DELIMITED if the attributes are separated by a delimiter. If DELIMITED is selected, you also must key in the DELIMITER (for example, a comma). For more information, see the background information above. |
User ID
Column/Length or Order: |
For fixed file formats, indicate the attribute's location by keying in the column and length (maximum number of characters). For delimited file formats, indicate the attribute's order on the page (1 for first, 2 for second, etc.). |
Password
Encryption: |
From the list box provided, select NONE if the passwords are stored in plain text in the security extract file, or PLUS if passwords are encrypted using the Plus encryption algorithm and must be decrypted during the load process. |
Column/Length or Order: |
See the description for User ID above. |
Name
Column/Length or Order: |
See the description for User ID above. |
Email Address
Column/Length or Order: |
See the description for User ID above. |
Employee ID
Column/Length or Order: |
See the description for User ID above. |
Verify String
Column: |
The verify string is a string that occurs in the same place in each file that can be used to verify the file (ensure it is the correct file). Specify the string's location (column) in the space provided; it is assumed to be on the first row. (This is a required field.) |
Value: |
Key in the verify string itself. (This is a required field.) |
