NOTE: This help page is part of a multi-step procedure. For an overview on creating archives, see the "Creating Archives" topic.
The "Modify Archive Specifications" page is displayed when you select Archive from the Report Tasks section of the main menu. This page will prompt you for creating and modifying archive specifications. This page pertains only to archive specifications in the selected repository, that is, the repository you selected at login.
An archive specification indicates the reports to be archived. Then you can generate a set of archived reports to be placed on CD. Once a specification is created, you may use it as often as required for creating subsequent archives--on an ad hoc basis, once a month, once a quarter, or whenever you have a requirement to back up the report data. Note that you may either generate an archive from this main page (if you do not need to edit the specification first), or select a specification for editing and then generate an archive from the detail page.
Key in a unique alphanumeric specification ID in the space provided at the bottom of the dialog and click the Create button. The "Edit Archive Specification" page appears, so that you can specify the reports and dates to be archived. For information on that page, see the "Using the Edit Archive Spec" topic.
Select (click on) the archive specification to be modified and click the Edit button. The "Edit Archive Specification" page is displayed, so that you can specify the reports and dates to be archived. For more information, see the "Using the Edit Archive Spec" topic.
You may not need to review or edit an archive specification before generating an archive. If so, select (click on) the specification ID of the archive you wish to create and click the Generate button. The "Archive Specification Summary" page appears, to provide information about the archive. For information on using that page, see the "Using the 'Archive Specification Summary' Page" topic.
From time to time, you may need to delete an archive specification from the system. Simply select the specification ID and click the Delete button. A verification message is displayed at the top of the page.
