NOTE: This help page is part of a multi-step procedure. For more information on maintaining archive specifications, see the "Using the 'Archive Specifications Summary' Page" topic.

The "Edit Archive Specification" page appears when you have either created a new specification or when you have selected a specification for maintenance. This page has a twofold purpose. It enables you to define the specification by indicating the reports to be archived. It also enables you to generate an archive for the selected specification. As a reminder, the specification ID is displayed in the page's title bar.

To define the specification:

Include All Reports? Indicate if you would like all of the reports in this repository included in this archive Specification. By selecting NO, additional input boxes (Reports, Archive) will be displayed at the bottom of the page.
Destination: What will be the final disposition of the selected reports
CD-R Can store up to 600 Megabytes of data.
DVD Can store up to 4 Gigabytes of data.
Purge This will permanently delete all reports and instances selected by the specification.
Date Range Select the date parameters for selection of reports to be archived or purged.
Reports Select from the list of all reports in this repository. You may use the Shift / Control selection methodology to select more than one report.
Archive These are the reports selected to be Archived or Purged.

To save your changes without generating an archive:

Save If you do not wish to generate an archive at this time, click the Save button shown at left. The system will record your updates and re-display the "Modify Archive Specifications" page.

To generate an archive:

Generate Whenever you are ready to create an archive file, click the Generate Archive button at the bottom of the dialog. The system will save your specification updates, and will display the "Archive Specification Summary" page, which provides information about the archive. For information on that page, see the "Using the 'Archive Specification Summary' Page" topic.
