NOTE: This function is not applicable to Banner defined repositories.
When you select Groups from the User Tasks section of the main menu, the "Choose Group" page appears. This page enables you to create and modify group-related information. Remember that this page pertains only to groups in the selected repository, that is, the repository you selected at login.
User groups provide a means for organizing the users at your site, based on their functional reporting requirements. All of the users associated with a particular group will have access to a corresponding set of reports.
Note that a user and a report can be associated with more than one group. In this example, Report 9 is associated with Groups A and B, so all the users in these two groups will have access to this report. Clark Kent is associated with both groups, as well, so he will have access to reports 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 9.
Even though users will have access to certain ePrint reports by virtue of their group(s), it is important to remember that the value-based security in place at your organization will still apply to all users, even the superusers referenced below.
There are two special user groups that you should know about before you start maintaining the groups for your organization:
This group is named USERS. When a user is added to ePrint by means of a security extract, he or she is placed in this default group. (Note that you can update the groups associated with a given user at any time.) If no authorized group is specified when a report is loaded into ePrint, the report will be associated with this default group. (Note that you can update the reports associated with a given group at any time.)
This group is named SUPERUSERS. The users associated with this group will have access to all of the ePrint reports in this repository. When a report is parsed, it will automatically be associated with the SUPERUSERS group.
When you create or maintain a group, you indicate the reports and users associated with it. For information on a specific task, follow the links below:
